* For Health and Safety reasons children aged 15 or under must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16 or over at all times.

* Edinburgh Zoo is located on a hill, so we recommend that visitors wear comfortable footwear.

* Some of our indoor enclosures/attractions may open later than the stated opening time and may close 30 minutes prior to the zoo’s stated closing time.

* Dogs are not permitted into Edinburgh Zoo as they can cause stress to some of our animals. We only permit guide dogs for the visually impaired.

* For the safety of other visitors and our animals, we reserve the right to refuse admission to any visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

** Eligibility for concessions:

  • Full-time students only with valid student ID featuring a valid expiry date
  • Young Scot cards
  • An unemployed person with proof, such as a letter from DSS or a post office card
  • Senior citizens, aged over 65

Do you have to pay extra to see the pandas at Edinburgh Zoo?

No, all included in the main entrance fee.

Can you pay at the gate at Edinburgh Zoo?

RZSS members and their accompanied guests no longer have to book in advance for visits to Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park. As usual, RZSS members must accompany guests who can pay for admission on the gate – please sign up for member emails for the latest updates.

Can you take your own food to Edinburgh Zoo?

Visitors can choose from a delicious range of burgers, fish and chips and pizza. As well as a separate coffee bar serving a variety of freshly baked goods, sandwiches, and ice-cream.

Is parking free at Edinburgh Zoo?

Car parking spaces are limited and free to use for the time being. You will also find two electric car charging points in the zoo's main car park in dedicated parking bays which are free to use.

Can you leave the zoo and come back?

Yes, you can leave and come back. You will need to have your hand stamped when you leave, and show the hand stamp when you re-enter.
