  1. Our 1st visit – on a Bank holiday with good weather. Prepared for crowds but delighted that queuing on entering was minimal. 3 Grandsons, parents & us grandparents impressed!

  2. Great zoo! Good cards are invaluable if you are local as it’s then a very cheap day out basically free if you take a picnic! And it’s also a great last minute day out if you have no plans and is cost effective!

Great animals to look at lots of parks also, feeding experiences etc

  3. One of the best zoos in Europe. Had a good day out. Animals are well cared for and facilities are well maintained. Red pandas are great.

  4. I Have Been To The Second Time Now With My College, I Love This Zoo, First Time I’ve Been With Ah Phab (My Club) Before COVID-19 Pandemic, I Love This Place, Awesome Place:)

  5. The only negative point I have is that we visited on a very hot week day and found a number of the refreshment outlets closed. This wasn’t ideal with small children. Aside from that, it’s a great zoo with a wide variety of animals. Each enclosure has a whole host of information about each animal

  6. Absolutely great zoo, huge as well, took us around 4 hours to see everything but all the animals are so well kept, a very clean zoo & great experience watching the tigers have their lunch!!

    1. The Colchester Zoo App is a great way to discover the various attractions around the zoo, and highlights our easy access route, as well as detailing the location of all hand sanitisers and the other safety measures we have introduced.* *We advise downloading the app before your visit.

  8. Just amazing, such a fabulous zoo. Every animal looks happy and well cared for. Great parks aswell so something for everyone. My sons loved feeding the parrots. We bought a gold card so I’m sure we will be visiting lots.

  9. Amazing zoo, so much to see and so many different animals. Lots of parks and places to sit/eat. Definitely feel this is the best zoo around.

  10. I am here all the time, it’s a fabulous zoo, very clean and animals always look well looked after.

Lots of activities for the kids lots of parks and soft play.

Also often run fabulous events too.

    My kids love the train.

  11. First time visiting and was not disappointed! Didn’t manage to see everything so will be back!
So much to see and do.

  12. Brilliant zoo with plenty of animals to see (almost too many to see in one day!). Love how modern they are with the downloadable app showing the map. Amazing to see the Elephants, our first time seeing them in person! Plenty of cafes and toilet facilities around the zoo too.

    1. Please note that no dogs are allowed into the park, with the exception of Assistance Dogs. Any visits with Assistance Dogs must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance. Photography for commercial use is not permitted without the expressed permission of Colchester Zoo.

  13. The zoo is a priced very well for entry. I would advise to take your own food, and feeding the elephant’s was a magical thing. The parking is free, and plentiful. The location is great, and easy to find.
A full day would be required to fit in everything, and still another day is required to see what we missed. This is my first visit, and would visit again. The zoo is very hilly, and in places they are steep. Electric wheel chairs are available, at a price but is worth it. The staff in the zoo are friendly and knowledgeable.

  14. Amazing accessibility for our wheelchair. Beautiful animals and great experience. An amazing way to end our holiday.

  15. The whole visit was great liked the big cats. Plenty to do was there the whole day and still had things to look at.

  16. Had a lovely day out at Colchester Zoo today

Plenty to see, amenities are great, so many animals , birds and fish to see

    Grounds are well maintained

  17. Very friendly staff throughout. Lovely clean and well presented all over. Plenty places for food and drink on site. A great day out

  18. Had a fab day today at Colchester zoo I can’t fault it in anyway not overly busy and staff was helpful and polite
